Dustin Poirier has garnered a reputation for being a no-nonsense, fearless fighter. Having had some crazy fights against some big names in the UFC, Poirier is a warrior inside the Octagon. However, if need be, he can be that same warrior outside the Octagon as well.
A lot has been made of Dustin and his relationship with his wife, Jolie Poirier. Having grown up together, and with Jolie being a key figure in his life, Dustin is very protective of his wife. As such, when push comes to shove, ‘The Diamond’ is always ready to protect his wife and his loved ones.
Speaking to Theo Von, Poirier touched on an incident where a person inappropriately touched his wife during Mardi Gras. Wasting no time, Dustin and his friend immediately rushed over to teach the assailant and his friends a lesson. “Bro, I ripped him off, I had a buddy of mine who fights. He started dropping this other guy’s people left and right. A hundred percent, every shot that landed, everybody fell”.
Despite his knack and obvious talent for fighting, Poirier doesn’t actively seek out violence. However, when it’s his family and loved ones in danger, Poirier has shown time and again that he can step up to the occasion. Notably, this instance wasn’t the only time that Poirier came to his wife’s rescue.
Dustin Poirier’s wife slides into Conor McGregor’s DMs
Previously, Poirier took on Conor McGregor for their trilogy fight at UFC 264 in 2021. On the night, Poirier was declared the winner at the end of Round 1 after McGregor suffered a brutal leg break. As such, the fight was declared a Doctor’s Stoppage in Dustin’s favor. However, despite the outcome and a broken leg, McGregor was still chirpy after the fight.
Whilst the two fighters went back and forth, McGregor dropped the infamous “Your wife is in my DM’s”. At the time, things got very heated inside the Octagon, especially after McGregor’s distasteful comments about Dustin’s wife. Moreover, Jolie, who was present inside the Octagon by her husband’s side, also got a jab, flipping her middle finger at the Irishman.

As it turns out, Jolie Poirier had previously contacted McGregor on behalf of the GoodFight Foundation regarding a donation to the charity. However, the Irishman decided to put his own twist on the matter, to mess with Dustin, no doubt. Unfortunately, the incident gave others the idea to try the same thing.
During a rally, a prankster decided to show up with a sign that read “Your wife is in my DM’s”. Seeing the poster, Poirier invited the person forward, before slapping him across the face and flipping the bird as the drove away. Seeing a sign of disrespect, Poirier was once again having none of it and did well to let his thoughts known. Moral of the story: Whatever you do, do not disrespect Dustin Poirier’s wife.
