UFC 292 is set to take place on August 19 at the TD Gardens in Boston, Massachusetts. Bantamweight fighters Aljamain Sterling and Sean O’Malley will headline the event as they finally settle their dispute inside the Octagon. This will be Aljamain Sterling’s fourth title defense after becoming the champion through unexpected means against Petr Yan.
Meanwhile, Sean O’Malley will finally fight for the title after preparing for Aljamain Sterling for nearly a year. He last fought against former champion Petr Yan at UFC 280 in 2022, which he won via split decision. Both fighters also had a heated face-off in the octagon which almost resulted in a brawl.
Apart from Sterling vs O’Malley, several significant clashes are set to be fought inside the octagon on Saturday. The co-main event will feature another championship fight between Weili Zhang and Amanda Lemos for the strawweight title. Both fighters are coming off a win and the fight could potentially end up stealing the show.
The card also features several crowd favorite fighters like welterweight prospect Ian Garry, veteran fighter Chris Weidman and more. Let’s take a look at how much each fighter is getting paid for fighting this weekend.
UFC 292: Aljamain Sterling set to be the highest earning fighter on the card
Fighter pay can be a bit difficult to calculate when it comes to a PPV event like this one. The exact figures for the fight will be revealed after the event based on the PPVs sold. Regardless, there are some reports that reveal the guaranteed pay of each fighter entering the octagon this weekend.
Unsurprisingly the bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling will be the most-paid fighter on the card. Like his last fight against Henry Cejudo, Funkmaster will receive a base pay of $500,000 with an incentive pay of $42,000 according to The Sports Daily. This will guarantee Aljamain a comfortable sum of $542,000 for defending his title against Sean O’Malley.
