The world is all too aware of Richard Williams and his contributions to making his daughters Serena and Venus Williams’ life illustrated and decorated as they are today.
Williams sisters have been acclaimed for providing the world with top-notch performances for over two decades and sadly, with the departure of Serena Williams from professional tennis last year, enthusiasts are left with only Venus to flatter them with her majestic powerplays.
A biopic titled ‘King Richard’ dedicated to the life of tennis veteran and former coach to the Williams sisters, Richard Williams was made starring American superstar Will Smith playing Richard’s character, to which Venus Williams in a video revealed her surprising initial thoughts when she first started previewing the movie.
In an interview hosted by Access Hollywood, Venus talked about how Smith’s acting in the movie was far greater than just commendable owing to him seamlessly bringing to life Richard’s character.
Talking about his acting skills left an impact on her and made her spiral into mere confusion, Venus highlighted how the American’s voice resonated with that of her father’s saying “Of course, there were moments where I thought I was hearing my dad’s voice and I was like ‘you know it’s daddy.’
“Even when we were filming and I wasn’t on site and we would have the feed of the filming and I would hear it and it was just like ‘wow this is eerie, this is just like my dad’ remarked Venus Williams on Smith’s impeccable acting skills which left her reminiscing past auditory moments she shared with her father.
It comes off as no surprise that Will’s acting has successfully surpassed the obvious wow factor owing to his receiving several accolades and esteemed awards in his career.
Richard Williams defended Will Smith over Chris Rock’s slap
The entire world was left in a state of shock when last year in 2022 Will Smith stole every headline as he marched on the iconic stage of the Academy Awards and slapped comedian Chris Rock after he made a joke surrounding his wife Jeda Pinkett Smith.
Almost a year after the incident, Richard Williams came to Smith’s rescue after being ridiculed with a 10-year ban on him and sided with his inappropriate act saying “I think he has done the best that he needed to do. But I would never be disgusted with Mr. Smith. Matter of fact, I appreciated Mr. Smith.”

Williams’ comments on the same were brought into the light considering Will Smith’s scandal went down just moments before he won an Oscar for his role in the ‘King Richard’ biopic.
