Nicolas Jarry is having a dream run at the Rolex Shanghai Masters this year. The Chilean player defeated Diego Schwartzman to book a spot in the quarterfinals. However, the star of the match was Jarry’s 18-month-old son, Juan, who stole the show with his cuteness.
Jarry was seeded 22nd at the Shanghai Masters this year. He took on his fellow South American player, Schwartzman, who is trying to stage a comeback on the biggest level. It was a special victory for Nicolas, as he qualified for the last 8 at a Masters tournament for the first time. The presence of his family in Shanghai with him on his birthday made the occasion even sweeter.
Following his victory, Jarry‘s son Juan walked onto the court to give his father a hug. The adorable moment between them was captured on camera and has won the adoration of tennis fans worldwide.

In the post-match interview, Nicolas opened up about what his family being with him on his birthday meant to him. He reflected on the previous occasions when he had to spend his birthday alone, but not this year.

Juan has become a bit of a star within the tennis fraternity. He was present during his father’s match along with his mother, Laura. At one point during the match, little Juan hilariously asked his mother for her sunglasses, and he put on them to watch his father play.

Nicolas Jarry has looked very formidable at the Shanghai Masters this year. He will hope to continue in this vein when he faces Grigor Dimitrov next.
Nicolas Jarry has had a successful outing in China
The Chilean is enjoying a wonderful outing in China so far. Jarry defeated the Argentinian wildcard Schwartzman 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 to reach his first quarterfinals at a Masters event.
Nicolas played against the French qualifier Terence Atmane (7-5, 6-2) and Italian Lorenzo Sonego (7-6 (4), 6-2) en route. In addition to a spot in the quarterfinals, Jarry is now the top-ranked South American player in the ATP rankings.

Nicolas Jarry won his third ATP title in Geneva in May earlier this year. He has won an impressive 23 matches out of the 32 he has played this year. And he is eyeing to add more to that tally in Shanghai.
