Russian tennis star Andrey Rublev is one of the most exciting players on the tour. Rublev has made great strides in his career and has the potential to become a Grand Slam champion too. However, Andrey is also very emotional, and he is quite prone to outbursts when playing.
Rublev is a very talented player and has won several titles in his career. He won his maiden Masters 1000 at Monte Carlo earlier this year. While Andrey had a decent season, his temper marred some of his matches. In a recent interview, Rublev made an honest confession about his meltdowns, which have hindered him often.
The Russian player candidly spoke about the ghost that often haunts him—his lack of emotional control. He talked about holding a grudge against himself, which takes on a life of its own when he fails. These feelings come from a place of wanting to be the best but failing to achieve it.

“It’s hard to get it when you hold a grudge against yourself. You do something wrong, and this grudge grows, grows, and grows. You do that without thinking; you realize that you are doing something that completely inadequate, and the grudge doubles. And then some crap happens in the match, and you can hear it in your head: To hell with all that,” he says in the video.
Rublev had a massive meltdown at the Nitto ATP Finals this year when he took on Carlos Alcaraz. He lost his cool and smashed his racket on his knee, drawing blood. This incident caused Nick Kyrgios to offer him help to better check his emotions.
Andrey Rublev finally spoke up about his outburst during the match against Alcaraz. While this has always been a struggle, he added that he was seeking help from his coach and a therapist.
Andrey Rublev and his ongoing struggle with depression
The Russian star is a very talented player, but his emotional flare-ups take the spotlight away from him. However, Andrey is very aware of the problem and the work that needs to be done to help himself.
Rublev has previously spoken about the depression that he has been suffering from for years. He recently took to social media to launch his clothing brand, Rublo. Andrey mentioned how he is depressed and always thinks about life and death.
