German tennis star Alexander Zverev found fame on the tennis courts because of his racket. Off the court, though, the star has come to be known as a perpetrator of violence. Zverev has time and again denied all the allegations leveled against him. However, there is overwhelming evidence to suggest that Brenda Patea, his child’s mother, is in the right this time.
Zverev was basking in glory when Olga Sharypova, his ex-girlfriend, accused him of abuse in 2020. It halted Alexander’s juggernaut, and he was left to deal with the repercussions. Simultaneously, Brenda, another ex-girlfriend of his, announced that she was expecting a child with Alexander.
It was a turbulent period for the German. He had to contend with being a father at 23 while fielding questions about being an abuser. Alexander took to social media to talk about embracing fatherhood so early in his life. He added that even though he was no longer with Brenda, they were on good terms.

Brenda quickly rubbished Zverev’s claims. She took to Instagram to answer a few questions about their situation and did not hold back. Patea stated that she stopped communicating with Alexander and had no intention of sharing custody of her child with the player.
“I’m expecting a child from Alex. We don’t have any communication with Alex right now, and frankly, I don’t plan to share custody of my child with him,” said Brenda.
Alexander Zverev’s life was thrown for a loop after Brenda accused him of causing her “bodily harm” earlier this year. Patea had the public prosecutor’s office issue a warrant against the German. Brenda thus became the second woman, after Sharypova, to come forward with claims of abuse against Zverev.
Alexander Zverev penalized for his actions
The German player has always vehemently denied all the accusations leveled against him, including the one by Patea. However, it is reported that a German court has fined Zverev a hefty amount.
Zverev has to pay €450,000 ($475,832) to his ex-girlfriend Brenda after the news was confirmed on October 31st. “The defendant is accused of physically abusing a woman and damaging her health as part of an argument in Berlin in May 2020,” the court said in a statement (via Tennis World USA).
The former world number seven is set to contest this ruling. Zverev’s lawyers labeled this procedure “scandalous.” They also added that the team will see this through to the end and fight till justice prevails.
Alexander Zverev has previously escaped disciplinary action from the ATP in Sharypova‘s case. It remains to be seen if the governing body will look into this or not. Zverev is currently playing at the ATP Paris Masters.
