The young player has been leading Italy’s tennis charge in recent years. Sinner led the team at this year’s Davis Cup. He played singles and doubles for the team in crucial matches. Sinner’s presence in the critical stages made up for Italy’s rough start to the Davis Cup.
Jannik Sinner etched his name in history for Italy at the Davis Cup
Italy will be indebted to Sinner for his contributions to the recently concluded Davis Cup. Italy started this year’s Davis Cup with a 0-3 loss to Canada. In the next tie, Lorenzo Sonego and Matteo Arnaldi lead the charge in singles against Chile. Both of these players again did the magic against Sweden to enter the quarterfinals. Sinner joined the team in the quarterfinals, which worked well.
Italy faced the Netherlands, and Arnaldi fell to pressure in the opening tie. On the other hand, Sinner won the second match and later partnered up with Sonego to seal the deal. Next was their toughest tie yet, the Serbian team led by Djokovic. But the world No. 4 did not falter under pressure and even saved three match points against Djokovic.

After a historic tie, Sinner, along with Sonego, pushed Italy into the finals. Next up was Australia, as Sinner needed just 81 minutes to beat Alex De Minaur in the final match. The 22-year-old led his country to its first title in 47 years. It can be seen that Sinner participated in the Davis Cup for just the third time.
