The Meteora World Tennis League is off to a flying start. As promised, Day 1 lived up to and even exceeded fans’ expectations. Polish tennis sensation Iga Swiatek is competing at the tournament this year, and she left a mark on the court. However, when Swiatek was not impressing the crowd with her skills, she impressed them with her typing skills.
Swiatek had a wonderful season in 2023, and she carried that winning momentum to the WTL too. The Pole is playing for the Hawks this time, and she tried her best to get them over the winning line on Day 1. Iga is a force to be reckoned with, and she went hard against Elena Rybakina.
It was not just Swiatek’s skills with a racket that caught the attention of fans, though. When Iga was not playing, some eagle-eyed fans noticed that she was typing on her phone. Typing away very quickly.
I don’t know what she moves faster, her feet when she is on court or her fingers typing pic.twitter.com/C968tP2VuW

Swiatek’s typing speed has caught the fancy of tennis fans online. One user was quick to throw humor into the mix, as it was reminiscent of typing away on an old Nokia phone with buttons. “This is Nokia 3210 era levels of typing,” they wrote. Another suggestion was that Iga could consider an alternate career as a typist or stenographer.
Alt career: typist. Or stenographer. Or secretary

The WTL is a mixed-gender exhibition tournament not affiliated with either the ATP or the WTA. There are four teams in total, and they play in a round-robin format. While it might be an exhibition tournament, Iga Swiatek opened up about treating it like any other WTA tournament.
Iga Swiatek makes a confession
With the 2023 season winding down on a positive note, Swiatek has much to look forward to next year. In the meantime, she is enjoying her stint with the Hawks at the WTL. Iga is still playing her brand of tennis, and it is unlikely to change anytime soon.
In a recent interview, Swiatek made an honest confession. The Pole revealed that she is treating the WTL as just another event on the tour. Some of her biggest rivals, like Rybakina and Aryna Sabalenka, are also competing at the tournament. Swiatek believes it has pushed her to be better and that it has positive and negative aspects too.

“For me, there is no difference. I like to work at my own pace, but when somebody is competing with you and keeps pushing you, then it has a positive impact and a negative impact, but I don’t overanalyze it,” she said (via Gulf News).
Iga Swiatek has been applying some of the things she has been practicing too. She was recently spotted working on her serve, and the results speak for themselves already. The Hawks will take on the Eagles on Day 2.
