SUMMARY
- Iga Swiatek overcame one of her most difficult challenges against Danielle Collins at the Australian Open.
- She gave a little peek into the playlist that helped her stage a comeback.
Polish tennis star Iga Swiatek has become one of the most dominant players in women’s tennis. She kicked off her Australian Open campaign in style, picking up from where she had left off last season. Iga is one of the coolest players around, and music is her go-to to help her get into the winning mindset. It came in handy just as things were starting to look dire for the world number one.
Swiatek took on Danielle Collins in the second-round clash in Melbourne. She weathered the rain and a fiery Collins to stage a remarkable comeback and surge into the next round. It was one of the trickiest matches for Iga, but she dug deep to come out as the winner.
Swiatek is known as an avid music lover, and following her victory, Iga gave a little peek into her playlist. She had to be cajoled to reveal it, since the last time she named her favorite bands, it became a huge deal. While she did not drop the names of the songs, she confessed that she was listening to the Rolling Stones.
“I was listening to The Rolling Stones. I feel like when I’m really well-focused I am kind of repeating the same song throughout the whole match,” she said (via Tennis).
The Pole has an impeccable taste in music. At the US Open last year, Swiatek confessed that she changed her playlist after almost two and a half years. It was still largely comprised of songs by rock bands.
Iga Swiatek says she changed her pre-match playlist:
“I had to change that bc I know these songs so well. I had the same playlist for like 2 & a half years. Now it’s Rolling Stones, Janis Joplin, Smoke on the Water, ACDC.. and I don’t remember.” 😂

Iga Swiatek can credit her comeback against Collins to the Rolling Stones. With her spot in the next round confirmed, she will take on Linda Noskova.
Iga Swiatek vs. Linda Noskova match preview
The world no. 1 overcame two difficult opponents to make it to the third round. Iga is no stranger to challenges, as she defeated Sofia Kenin, a former champion, and Collins in successive matches. She will now take on Linda Noskova on Saturday.
Linda overcame Marie Bouzkova and McCartney Kessler to book a spot in the third round. Noskova’s experience came in handy to claim victory over Kessler.
Swiatek and Noskova have played against each other only once before. They had locked horns at the Poland Open in 2023, and Iga had won that match in straight sets.
Even though Iga Swiatek looked a little vulnerable against Collins, her victory proved why she is one of the best players. She hopes to carry on in this vein against Noskova too.
