Venus Williams has only played two matches in the first five months of this season. She played at the ASB Classic Open in January and was out on tour till June. She suffered a hamstring injury and returned to play in the grasscourt series. Venus played in two events before Wimbledon; she lost in three sets in her comeback match. In her next match, Venus secured a victory over Camila Giorgi but lost to Jelena Ostapenko in the next round.
Amid her recovery, and her hectic schedule, she recently posted a video on her YouTube channel. It was a questions and answers video for the fans wherein she answered questions about her professional career, personal life, and dealing with injuries. When asked about dating someone from overseas, Venus replied, ” Yes, I like people from overseas; I like all people. American or non-American, there is no limit.”
The 43-year-old is currently single. There were rumors about her dating Reily Opelka but later confirmed that they were only friends. She also dated pro golfer Hank Kuehne from 2007 to 2010. Later, she was reportedly dating Cuban model Elio Pis. Venus was in a two-year relationship with Nicholas Hammond but broke up in 2019 due to undisclosed reasons.

Venus has not played any tour matches since losing in the first round at Wimbledon. The former world No.1 has recovered from a hamstring injury, recently. She has said it was one of the toughest rehabilitations she had to endure. The seven-time Grand Slam champion clarified that she has retired from doubles and will focus on singles.
There has been no statement from Venus regarding her participation in the US Open. She won the title in 2000 and 2001. She first played the event in 1997, where she lost to Martina Hingis in the final; since then, Venus has been regularly playing at the US Open except in 2003, 2006, and 2021. If she plays at this year’s US Open, it will be her twenty-fourth appearance.

Last year, the five-time Wimbledon champion played singles and doubles at the year’s final major. She partnered with her sister, Serena Williams, but the pair lost in the first round. Venus won the doubles title with Serena in 1999 and 2009. Venus will need a wildcard entry into the event this year as her rankings have gone down.
