Andrey Rublev is having a busy year on tour. He has played 56 matches so far and won forty of them. Rublev was ranked No.5 at the start of the year but has now dropped to No.7. He has played at least two events every month except in June. Rublev will look forward to the US Open as he is yet to reach the semifinals at Grand Slams and, this year, might have a shot at it.
The Russian No.2 featured in a recent video that involved the top players at the Canadian Open. The players opened up about some of the things they are bad at, and Andrey Rublev did not hesitate to open up. Stefanos Tsitsipas and Carlos Alcaraz agreed that they were not good at dancing.
While Casper Ruud admitted that he was terrible at folding clothes, Matteo Berettini found it hard to keep things tidy. Most players agreed they needed to improve at cooking, as Rublev said he had never cooked.
Andrey don’t be mean to yourself 🙏😭

Every time I see Rublev talking off court it’s a breath of fresh air. He’s such a lovely, funny guy.

The 14-time tour title winner was honest throughout the video, saying he was bad at everything. He also said he struggles to play any other sport and fails to be a romantic. Fans supported Rublev as his honesty was all over the place.
Andrey Rublev suffers early exit in Toronto
Andrey Rublev continued his poor form at the event, losing his opening match to Mackenzie McDonald. The American played an attacking but controlled game against his opponent. It was his second victory over the Russian in their third meeting. Mackenzie will now face Milos Raonic for a place in the fourth round.
Taylor Fritz reached the fourth round for the second successive year at the Canadian Open. Fritz had to move a lot in his match against Ugo Humbert. The Frenchmen won more points in the match, but Fritz had the upper hand in crucial moments.
The first set alone lasted an hour as the world No.9 took the lead in the tiebreak; Umbert fought back in the second set with attacking service games. An early break in the final set did the trick for Fritz.

Jannik Sinner faced fellow Italian, Berettini in his opening match at Toronto. It was the pair’s first meeting on tour, and Sinner only needed two breakpoints in the match to secure a victory.
He did not let his serve down in the match and took advantage of Berettini’s movement in the court with some out-of-reach volleys. The 21-year-old will now face Andy Murray for a third time as both have a victory against each other.
