After Novak Djokovic was finally dethroned by the young 20-year-old Spaniard, Carlos Alcaraz, he has been in the spotlight. The defending champion was defeated by Alcaraz in an epic nail-biting, almost 5-hour-long match.
While Novak has been receiving compliments left and right after he showed great sportsmanship at the post-match interviews, fans noticed something very peculiar that spread across the internet like wildfire.
Fans noticed the Serbian eating banana in the most inhumane way during the broadcast of the match on Sunday. The BBC viewers spotted Djokovic eating the banana with its peel still on and inevitably started questioning the player.
Did Djokovic just wolf down banana peel? 😮#WimbledonFinal #Wimbledon pic.twitter.com/91N7nkudZD

Many people expressed their concerns about the Serb’s apparent consumption of the banana’s skin on social media after he bit into the fruit to refuel during the dramatic five-set match. Here are a few of the reactions:
Sorry but Djokovic deserves to lose purely for the way he ate that banana #WimbledonFinal

People took to Twitter to comment hilarious remarks,
Novak Djokovic lost because he ate the he banana peel. Who does that man

One user claimed he is not a human,
Djokovic didn’t even peel the sides of the skin down before taking a bite of that banana smh, he’s not human

Others believed he had lost his mind
He’s such a strange guy

Djokovic eating the skin of the banana, he’s lost his damn mind out there😭😭
— Lewis ✝️🇬🇧 (@utd_Lewis) July 16, 2023
One user even called it a part of a conspiracy theory,
There’s conspiracy theories aplenty in the living room debate of the Wimbledon final. Why did Djokovic go off for so long? What’s in that banana? What’s he drinking? 😅

It is well known that bananas are a good source of potassium and carbs, but the peel is rarely consumed along with the flesh of the fruit. Hence, Djokovic was accused of being “not human” thanks to his bizarre way of eating a banana with its peel and losing “his damn mind” after being unable to get the better of Alcaraz.
Novak Djokovic had a heated interaction with umpire and audience at Wimbledon
Novak Djokovic is famous for having altercations with the crowd and the umpire overseeing his matches. He is renowned for his temper tantrums and arguments there as well. Djokovic, who is infamous for his erratic and “childish” demeanor, has drawn criticism for his unsportsmanlike actions, and with good reason.
Recently, midway through the tight third set of his Wimbledon final match against Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic expressed his displeasure with umpire Fergus Murphy. Novak does not have a good history with Murphy as he has had altercations with him before as well.
During his match against Alcaraz in the Wimbledon final, he again had trouble with the crowd, as he was at odds with them. Djokovic complained that the crowd’s booing was hindering his serve.
Djokovic made it a point to ridicule fans cheering for his opponents but apparently didn’t find it problematic whenever his disruptive supporters did the same.
This weirdo was harassing Alcaraz & Djokovic rewarded him with the racket he smashed to show off with his Serbian flag. https://t.co/jn61Fliko4 pic.twitter.com/wI7SZ6kzM5

Fans were not happy with Djokovic and took to social media to show their disappointment. One user added how the fan was intentionally invited to the match to disrupt Carlos,
Wimby regulars know this guy. The only reason he and a few others we know were in the stands yesterday and Friday is because N*vak’s management sorted out their tickets. He also cheated the resale queue in 2019 and was chased by security when he tried to sell his semifinal ticket

This guy is present at most Djokovic slam matches. I’m pretty sure Novak is paying for this. Otherwise it would be impossible. He is really strange, always sitting at the most expensive seats. Very weird.

Nole is not a fan favorite, which is no secret. The crowd is notorious for booing and discouraging points Djokovic earns over his opponent, whether it be at Wimbledon or the French Open. As well as his play on the court.
