There have been some critically acclaimed biopics. The most notable, of course, is King Richard, featuring Will Smith, who plays Richard Williams, the father of the Williams sisters. Battle of the Sexes is another notable biopic, featuring Emma Stone as Billie Jean King. The movie tells a dramatized version of the match that changed the landscape for women’s tennis.
Although not a biopic, Challengers is another upcoming movie revolving around tennis. The actors had to put in a lot of work to learn the basics of the sport. However, there are some celebrities who do know how to handle a racket.
Celebrities who could also be tennis stars
A lot of Hollywood actors have hidden talents. For some, it may be singing or playing an instrument. Some others were good at sports. Today we look at actors who can wield a tennis racket.
- Matthew Perry: The FRIENDS actor was a child prodigy and played competitive tennis. He was also very serious about becoming a professional player before he found his true calling. Perry was the top-ranked junior player in Ottawa.
- Brad Pitt: The Oscar winner played tennis as a student at Kickapoo High School in Springfield, Missouri. Pitt was athletically gifted and played a number of sports, including tennis.
- Scarlett Johansson: The Black Widow actress credits the sport for keeping her in shape. Johansson also starred in the Woody Allen movie, Match Point, even though she played the role of an actress.
It remains to be seen if Hollywood does indeed go on to make biopics about tennis stars. Given the Big 3’s contribution to the game, they certainly deserve it.
