This Sunday, Carlos Alcaraz wrote history as he smashed records after getting an epic win over the defending champion, Novak Djokovic, at the Wimbledon finals. The match was a thrill to watch as it was a roller coaster with twists and turns of emotions. The electrifying match lasted for a total of four hours and 42 minutes and proved to be nothing short of a nail-biting experience.
The match started with Djokovic taking the first set. Carlos, however, bounced back and took two sets from him with a score of 1-6, 7-6(6), 6-1. Djokovic again made a comeback and won the fourth set making it 2 sets for each. This is when the match shifted as what looked like an easy win for Djokovic suddenly took a turn and Carlos took the fifth set to win the match with a score of 6-4.

While the match was an intense almost 5-hour epic battle, the post-match interview was equally light-hearted and heartwarming. Both the players appreciated each other and shared hilarious moments. Carlos called Nole an inspiration and said, “You said 36 is the new 26 & you make that happen.”

In the interview, Carlos mentioned how he grew up watching Novak play and shared a laugh with the crowd and Novak himself. The Spaniard was at a loss for words to describe Novak, which was a beautiful display of sportsmanship.
With the victory at Wimbledon, Carlos Alcaraz has now two grand slam titles to his name. Interestingly enough, that’s just one less than Sir Andy Murray, who was in the crowd watching the Spanish prodigy take on the modern-day great, Novak Djokovic.

In a match that is definitely going to go down in the ‘history books’ as Djokovic said, he has his share of ups and down. What looked like a 24th grand slam win for the 36-year-old turned out to be his first loss in 10 years.

Djokovic is undoubtedly one of the best players tennis has ever seen and the records surely speak for themselves. At the age of 36, he has achieved what only a few could. In the post-match interview, Djokovic shared classy words and a heartwarming moment.
He started by congratulating the young Spaniard and cracked a joke as he said, “I thought I’ll have trouble with you on only clay & hard court.” He went on to reminisce about the 2019 final against Federer and a light-hearted moment as he said how he should have lost a couple of finals, but now it is finally “even-steven.”
Classy words from the seven-time champion.

Finally, when asked to say a few words for his family and his team, he got emotional as he looked at his son smiling down at him. He thanked his team and family for their support and said “I love you” while shedding a few tears. Nole showed his sportsmanship as he said, he lost to the ‘better player’ and how he must move on.
Carlos Alcaraz has become the second Spanish player, after Rafa, to win the Wimbledon Championships. The 20-year-old is also one of the youngest players to lift the Golden trophy. He is also the only player to have beaten Novak Djokovic on the center court after Andy Murray in 2013.
