Serena Williams’ greatness on the tennis court is unparalleled. Since making her on-court debut, she has changed women’s tennis forever. Before retiring from the sport last year at the US Open, the American already had a total of 39 Grand Slam titles to her name.
In addition to the Major titles, Williams has also won four Olympic gold medals. Out of the four, three came in doubles events while one came in singles, which is also the most special to her.
Playing in the 2012 London Olympics, Serena Williams was in menacing form. She didn’t drop a single set in the whole tournament in addition to three bagels. Thus, in the final, she thrashed the likes of third seed, Maria Sharapova with a score of 6-1, 6-0 to secure her first singles Olympic gold.
The moment was full of joy for the American tennis professional as she started dancing after the win. Serena Williams did the Crip Walk dance as a celebratory move after her win over Sharapova.

Williams has won seven singles Wimbledon titles at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club. However, winning a singles Olympic gold medal on the same ground was a distinct euphoria.
The whole crowd at the London Games was full of excitement and the most memorable figure sitting in the stands was Venus Williams. The happiness of Venus Williams was enough to understand what the Olympic gold medal means to an athlete and their family.
Serena Williams doesn’t care about the people criticizing her for her dance
Serena Williams’ Crip Walk met with mixed reactions from the tennis world. Some fans praised her skills while a few were not impressed by her dancing on the tennis court. However, she stated that she doesn’t care about people criticizing her for showing her joy.
“It just happened. I was so excited that it just came out. I guess I’m good at it! I don’t care. That’s the least of my worries … I’m so excited I was able to do the dance. I’m glad I did it!” Williams said.
The 2012 London Olympics were memorable for Serena Williams as she also captured the women’s doubles gold medal after pairing up with her older sister, Venus Williams. They took down the Czech pair of Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka in the final to reach the memorable peak.
