Sofia Martinez is an Argentine reporter and was seen attending the Ballon d’Or ceremony with several other journalists and reporters. She was one of the lucky few reporters who could interview the eventual winner Lionel Messi and other Argentine players who attended the ceremony.
While working for ESPN, She got to have a candid session with Messi and asked Emiliano Martinez how it felt to win the Lev Yashin Award. She was also spotted talking to Manchester City’s Julian Alvarez and Inter Milan’s captain Lautaro Martinez.

Her day just got better as she also got the opportunity to interview The World No.1 in tennis right now Novak Djokovic. Overall Sofia had one of her best days during the ceremony as can be seen from her Instagram post where she claimed the ceremony to be “THE MOST ARGENTINA FOOTBALL PARTY THAN EVER”.
She also then went on to write about how special and beautiful the game of soccer is and how the legend of Lionel Messi is getting bigger every year. She also went on to thank ESPN and the several players for their generosity and good energy.
Fans online were also very happy to see the young journalist have such a great experience as they commented by saying “Come on”, “You broke it all, once again! Big”. The cherry on top of the icing is that her post has been also liked by Argentine midfielder Alexis Mac Allister.
“Magical”- Sofia Martinez reacts after interviewing Lionel Messi
Sofia Martinez was one of the lucky ones who got to interview Lionel Messi before the World Cup final last year. Being from Argentina herself Sofia started the interview by saying “You touched every single Argentinian, I mean what I say”
During an interview with BBC Sport, the journalist opened up about her experience interviewing Messi before the final. She described it as one of the most magical moments of her life. Sofia said it was a very emotional moment for her especially since she has been following Messi since she was a child.
Sofia Martinez was also part of Argentina sports television history while in Doha. Martinez, Lola del Carril and Ángela Lerena were part of the first ever all-female broadcast team to call a World Cup match for @TV_Publica. https://t.co/J9zQb0xSx2

She praised Messi saying “He was paying attention to me”, which was the magical part as he was listening and understanding what Sofia was saying. She also promised Messi to get a tattoo if Argentina wins the final which she eventually shows to the camera during the interview.
Sofia went on to say that Lionel Messi absolutely deserved to win the World Cup and even if he did not, he had already done many things for his country. Lionel Messi also liked the experience as he almost cried.
A few months later reports came out suggesting that Antonella was “jealous” of the reporter after she sent a letter to Messi back in June. Her partner Diego Leuco came to her defense saying that Antonella had already said it was a misunderstanding.
