Former Spanish captain Sergio Ramos is set to make a dream return to his boyhood club, Sevilla, after 18 years. Ramos has been a free agent ever since he decided to part ways with the French club Paris Saint-Germain at the end of last season.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the La Liga side is set to announce the return of the star after a deal was agreed between both parties on Sunday. The contract is said to be valid until 2024 and has the option of an extension for another season. The legendary Real Madrid captain is also set to be included in the UCL list.
Ramos reportedly rejected approaches from Saudi Arabia and Turkey to return to the place where it all started for him. He was offered a two-year contract by his former teammate Karim Benzema‘s side, Al Ittihad. It also included a break clause. Reports also suggest that the deal was almost done, and medicals for the player were booked for the next week to seal the deal. But Sevilla swooped in from out of nowhere to steal the show.

In his previous stint at the club, which lasted until 2005, the 37-year-old made 49 appearances for Sevilla’s senior side. He managed to score three goals for the club during his tenure while conceding 11 yellow cards.
With a fairytale return seeming eminent, it is to be seen how the veteran defender performs at this age in the league where he spent most of his club career. Will the fans be able to see the familiar Ramos take up his spot back in the league, or will age turn into a huge factor and change his game?
Turkish Giants issues brutal statements, publicly rejects Sergio Ramos
Turkish Giants Besiktas has publicly rejected Sergio Ramos as they made brutal statements towards the veteran defender. Ramos has been a free agent since the end of last season. Over the last few months, the defender has been speculated for a move to quite a few leagues. Lately, he has been heavily linked with a possible move to the SPL, or Turkish league.
According to reports, Besiktas was reportedly looking at the options of signing the 37-year-old star. It was said that the club went ahead of their rivals Galatasaray in securing a deal for the player. It was assumed to be a matter of time before Ramos was seen in the Besiktas jersey. But later, the deal with the club collapsed due to “the financial requests”.
This was followed by an official statement from the club’s end to clear up the matter regarding the transfer deal collapse of Ramos and Anderson Talisca. The statement read, “Successful footballers Anderson Talisca and Sergio Ramos, who have an important place in the world football market with their quality, which every club, every president, and every coach would want to see in their squad, are on the transfer agenda.”

The club statement further said, “In this direction; Contact was made with both Anderson Talisca and his club and Sergio Ramos, who has his testimonial. Negotiations, which were carried out considering the interests of our club, were terminated due to disagreements on financial issues. We respectfully present the information of the public and our fans.”
Ramos previously earned around $6.4 million per year at Paris Saint-Germain. The player might have requested a number in that area to join the club. And that could have created the conflict. Although now, as mentioned above, Ramos is set to make a sensational return to the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium after 18 years. This is after a deal was agreed between both Sevilla and the defender.
