Richarlison is a Brazilian professional soccer player who plays as a striker for Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur and the Brazil national team. He has come into the limelight recently and has caught the eye of the soccer world.
The Brazilian International has come out and revealed to the world that he is currently struggling with Mental Health issues. This news comes after Richarlison was pictured crying on the bench as he was subbed off in the game of Brazil against Bolivia on September 9.
The reason that Richarlison gave for his breakdown was that “it was more of an outburst about the things that were happening off the field.”

“I went through a turbulent time in the last five months off the field,” he told Brazilian newspaper O Globo. He specified that he was having trouble at home which clearly means that it was something personal that Richarlison had been struggling with for the last five months.
The Brazilian striker has been a regular starter for the National team. He performed exceptionally well in the World Cup, where he scored a wonder goal against Serbia. But, his recent form has not been good enough, and he seems to be struggling both in club and international-level soccer.
In the interview, the forward vocalized some hidden facts related to his mental health. He said, “I’m going to return to England and seek psychological help, from a psychologist, to strengthen my mind. That’s what it is about, to come back stronger”.
The forward has been performing like any other average player in the last few months. And, he has not been able to justify his price tag since joining Tottenham which has disappointed a lot of fans around the world.
Richarlison’s Stats since joining Tottenham
It has not been the dream start that Richarlison would have hoped for when he joined Tottenham last year. He has struggled to make an impact within the squad. The striker has only netted four goals in 40 games for Spurs since joining for $74m from Everton last summer.
Tottenham paid nearly €60m for Richarlison:

The Tottenham manager, Ange Postecoglou, has continuously given Richarlison a chance in the team since Harry Kane left the club to join Bayern this summer. But the forward has been disappointing in front of goal and has been subbed off in almost all the games he has started.
Ange Postecoglou says there is no benefit comparing Richarlison with Harry Kane:
“All I can look at is behaviours and the way he’s training and playing.
“I don’t know that there’s that much of a burden there to carry. Ultimately, this football club needed to change. I think… pic.twitter.com/b0zEXvGzFN

However, the Brazilian forward said, “Things are going to flow now and I’m certain that I will have a good run at Tottenham and will make things happen again.”
“It’s about doing a good run at Tottenham. I’m going to sit down and talk to them. I need a good run, get into the flow of play, and settle in, ” He further added.

It will be a fascinating couple of months for Richarlison, and it will be interesting to see how he recovers from his personal issues. At the moment, Tottenham definitely needs the Brazilian striker to start scoring some goals. And if Richarlison can revive his form by getting help for his mental health, then it will be a win-win for both the club and the player.
