Portuguese midfielder Otavio has officially joined Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr. The Saudi Pro League side announced the player’s recruitment through their social media accounts. His signing falls in line with the SPL’s objective of acquiring prominent talents from European Soccer.
Al-Nassr have never been shy to spend big and get their transfer targets. And Otavio is certainly no exception. Local reports indicate that the club splashed $65 million in transfer fees for the 28-year-old, making him FC Porto’s record sale. For context, the Portuguese outfit signed Otavio for free back in 2014. The midfielder moves to the Middle East after spending nearly a decade with Porto. During that time, he made 182 appearances and grabbed 12 goals for the club.
Al Nassr is about to offer 60 million euros for Otávio.

The Portugal International has received a lucrative contract for the switch. As per reports, Otavio will earn an annual salary of $14 million in Saudi Arabia. The amount is said to be a threefold increase over his previous contract. Furthermore, the three-year deal will keep him at Al-Nassr until 2026. Despite being in new surroundings, the midfielder will find a familiar face in his compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo. The duo shared a locker room while representing Portugal at the Qatar World Cup.

Otavio joins the likes of Sadio Mane, Marcelo Brozovic, Seko Fofana, and Alex Telles as newcomers at Al-Nassr. All signs currently point towards the arrival of Aymeric Laporte, who would be another solid inclusion to the group.
