The Spice Girls, which started in 1994, consisted of five members originally. Victoria Beckham (“Posh Spice”), Melanie Brown (“Scary Spice“), Melanie Chisholm (“Sporty Spice“), Emma Bunton (“Baby Spice“), and Geri Halliwell (“Ginger Spice“).
After releasing three commercially successful albums, the band broke up after Geri Halliwell left the band in 1998. In 2000, the Spice Girls went into an indefinite hiatus. The remaining four members decided to pursue their own solo careers.

Victoria Beckham, after separating from the band, continued with her solo music career for a few years. However, in the mid-2000s, Victoria started her career in the fashion industry. She started her modeling career after making her debut as a model at London Fashion Week. She launched her eponymous fashion label in 2008, and she went on the win Designer Brand of the Year in 2011 at the British Fashion Awards.
Why did Victoria Beckham Leave Spice Girls?
Although Victoria has emerged as a global fashion icon, she seems to have left her music career in the past. In a January 2021 issue of the British Vogue magazine, Victoria opened up about her decision to leave the Spice Girls. Victoria penned a reflective letter to her 18-year-old self in the magazine.

In the letter, she talked about how she was inspired by British singer Sir Elton John to follow her passion for music. Victoria said, “Remember years ago, watching your dear friend Elton John on stage in Las Vegas. He performed “Tiny Dancer” as if it was the first time, and you realized this was like oxygen for him.“
She further said, “It was a life-changing moment — while singing and dancing was fun for you, it wasn’t your passion. That day, you started your quest to uncover your own dreams. ” Victoria revealed how at that point in her life, she decided to part ways with the Spice Girls.
She said, “It was time to step away from being a Spice Girl. For the first time, you were venturing out on your own, and it was terrifying. It was scary to close a chapter that defined you.”

Although the Spice Girls reunited during the 2019 Spice World tour, Victoria chose not to join the band. She congratulated her former band and wished them luck for their upcoming tour through an Instagram post. Victoria wrote, “I won’t be joining my girls on stage again, but being in the Spice Girls was a hugely important part of my life and I wish them so much love and fun as they go back on tour next year.”
Even last year, during an interview, Victoria said, “I had so much fun being in the Spice Girls. But I think now with everything else I’ve got going on—with my fashion, and my beauty line, four children—I couldn’t commit to that. ” However, the former Posh Spice didn’t rule out an opportunity of being part of a hologram concert.
