Lionel Messi’s surprising transfer to Inter Miami has turned into the talk of the sporting world, and its reverberations are now trickling down to the streaming hemisphere as well. Popular YouTuber IShowSpeed recently reacted to the news of his move to America in emphatic fashion, the clip of which has since gone viral.
After a transfer saga involving 3 different clubs, Messi finally confirmed his decision to move to the MLS and sign for Inter Miami. The 35-year-old rejected Saudi outfit Al-Hilal and killed the possibility of a return to FC Barcelona in the process. Naturally, the news blew up on social media almost immediately after its announcement.

From behind-the-scenes reports to confidential contract details, information about the transfer has spread like wildfire. For instance, Inter Miami has reportedly offered Messi some incredible perks including a percentage of the profits derived from AppleTV+ subscriptions, a slice of Adidas’s profits from the transfer, and the option of an ownership stake in the club itself.
Just like millions of fans who reacted to the news online, streamer IshowSpeed also made sure to offer up his unfiltered reaction during a live stream. The renowned Cristiano Ronaldo fanatic has been critical of Messi in the past. But in this case, even he couldn’t contain his excitement.
As seen in this clip, Darren Watkins, otherwise known as IshowSpeed, was caught off guard upon discovering the news. His immediate reaction was; “This can’t be real bro, like how am I supposed to feel right now bro. Am I supposed to be feeling happy, genuine, sad, despiteful, ungrateful, sadful, inspirational? Like how should I feel right now? Chat, should I get mad?
Should I get mad that he’s coming to America? America, he’s coming to America! Messi is coming to America.”

The Ohio native could barely contain himself by the end of the clip, as the prospect of Messi heading to the US is simply too big. But despite his evident excitement, Speed has minced no words about how much he dislikes the Argentine.
IShowSpeed thinks Lionel Messi might be the worst soccer player in the world
The streaming sensation has lashed out at the forward on numerous occasions, usually because of one primary reason. Given his rabid Ronaldo fandom, Speed harbors no admiration for the Portuguese’s competitive rival. And needless to say, the 18-year-old considers Ronaldo to be a far better soccer player than Messi.
In fact, in one instance, Speed even called the former Barcelona star “the worst player in the world“. He further suggested that the Argentina International is one-dimensional with dribbling being his only redeeming quality; “You want me to be completely honest? Messi is like, he just only can dribble. The only thing he can do is just dribble. I’ll give him that. I don’t like Messi but the only thing he can do is dribble.”
Despite being one of his harshest critics, it wouldn’t be unsurprising to see IShowSpeed attend one of Messi’s matches in Miami, even if it is entirely for content purposes.
