Chelsea is at risk of playing in the English championship after their new owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital reported the club for irregularities after their takeover.
As per reports, the London club is under investigation for financial breaches that were reportedly made during previous owner Roman Abramovich’s era.
If found guilty of financial breaches, Chelsea might face a huge fine from the League and can even face a points deduction in the league. Furthermore, the English club has been accused of paying millions to offshore companies to keep those transactions off the official record.
Some fans have even demanded for the club be regulated from the Premier League. They wrote, “Relegation Incoming.” While another fan demanded that the West London side be sent to the Championship. They demanded, “Send them to championship where they belong.”

On the other hand, fans of Chelsea were seen demanding results for the investigation against Premier League champions Manchester City. One fan wrote, “We haven’t had any updates from the PL about Man City’s 115 charges.”
Another fan pointed out how this issue with the London club should trigger the investigation against Manchester City. They wrote, “This is gonna be a long season for Chelsea but when will they resume Man City cos this issues will trigger that as well.”
New club owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital reported financial irregularities to the UEFA and the Premier League. The UEFA board has already completed its investigation and found the London club guilty of the charges.
Chelsea was fined by UEFA for FFP breaches during Abramovich’s ownership
Chelsea has been fined by UEFA for incomplete financial records submitted between 2012 and 2019 when Roman Abramovich was still the owner of the club. The UEFA board has fined Chelsea $11 million for the Financial Fair Play breaches.
The official UEFA statement read, “With respect to Chelsea FC the CFCB First Chamber concluded that the club breached the UEFA Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play regulations as a result of submitting incomplete financial information.
“Following the club’s sale in May 2022, the new ownership identified, and proactively reported to UEFA, instances of potentially incomplete financial reporting under the club’s previous ownership. The reported matters related to historical transactions which took place between 2012 and 2019.”

The statement further continued, “Following its assessment, including the applicable statute of limitations, the CFCB First Chamber entered into a settlement agreement with the club which has agreed to pay a financial contribution of €10 million to fully resolve the reported matters.”
The English club will, however, not face any more sanctions by the UEFA as they have failed to qualify for the Champions League this season after their underwhelming performance last season.
