The manager of Manchester City, Pep Guardiola has once again gone viral but for all the wrong reasons. X erupted after he once again requested people to show up for their soccer match.
Guardiola requested the fans to visit their upcoming match against Newcastle United on August 20, 2023. The Spanish manager further urged the fans for their support towards the club during this time of need as the club is going through a rough patch.
In a recent interview, Guardiola said, “Tomorrow hopefully we will have the stadium full [vs Newcastle]. Stay with us please, because we are not in our best moment. Especially in our bad moments, please stay with us because we need the noise and support.”
Following his request, many people took to X to poke fun at him. One fan wrote, “Every game he has to beg his fans to come to the stadium.” Another wrote, “He will always play the victim card.”
One person had an interesting suggestion, “Couldn’t he just ask the ownership to buy more fans? That’s how he’s achieved everything so far. Throw money at it long enough.” One X user claimed that Manchester City would suffer defeat, “He knows we will get smoked 2moro. “
With one of his main men, Kevin De Bruyne out of the game for the next three to four months, Pep would require all the support he can get. It’s now up to the supporters if they show up on the stand and support their team or will the Manchester City manager’s request have no effect.
Manchester City is set to spend $326 million to extend their stadium capacity to over 60,000
Manchester City are set to upgrade the Etihad Stadium after they got approval from the club hierarchy for spending about $326 million on the project. This upgrade will reportedly increase the stadium’s capacity to over 60,000.
Man City reportedly possesses a complete renovation plan for providing the best possible fan experience at their home stadium. The club has planned to build a 400-bed hotel, TV studio, roof walk, and a fan zone for almost 3,000 people.
The above-mentioned project has been approved by the Manchester Council’s planning committee as the plan has been backed up by several members of the committee.
The work of construction will seemingly start in November 2023. The club’s target is to finish the project before the start of the 2025-26 Premier League season in August.
