Before the start of this season, it was reported that academy graduate Mason Greenwood would be slowly reinstated into first-team football after the charges had been dropped earlier this year. Much to no one’s surprise, this bit of news was received with a lot of criticism and disgust, especially from the female fans.
Manchester United finally decided it would be better to part ways with the player. Mason Greenwood is set to restart his career in Spain by playing for Getafe FC in La Liga on loan.

A loan move makes perfect sense for all parties, as very few clubs would want the commitment of wanting the player on a permanent deal, and terminating his contract would cost United millions.
It is being reported that Manchester United will do everything to rebuild Mason’s career before he returns to United next year in June. According to reports, Manchester United are paying for a six-bedroom villa near the Alfonso Perez Coliseum, which is going to cost them approximately $10,000 a month. They are also providing him with a translator who is going to be with him 24/7.
It is also said that the villa would be open to his friends and family so that they could come and visit him at any time. His 53-year-old dad is also likely to move with him.
How much will Mason Greenwood earn at Getafe during his loan spell?
Getafe will not be paying any amount to the 20-time English Champions, and it is also being said that United will pay most of his salary as they want to help Greenwood as much as possible. A source said, “He’s going on loan but remains a United player”.
Getafe will indeed cover a small portion of his wages during the tenure of this loan. Other clubs that wanted to sign Greenwood on loan, like Lazio or Roma, also offered to pay only a small amount of his wages in case he joined their club. Getafe is set to pay $31010 per week. Getafe announced the deal just minutes before the end of the transfer window.
Much is expected from Greenwood and his return to soccer. Back at United, he had scored 35 goals in 129 matches. Greenwood will wear the number 12 during his loan spell for the Spanish side, and fans can expect the English forward to score some goals as the player needs it more than the club.

Fans need to wait a while for Greenwood’s debut as he hasn’t played soccer since January of 2022. He is reported to make his first appearance on September 17th when Getafe hosts Osasuna.
