Premier League giants Manchester United did not know that a police report had been filed against Antony. As per reports, complaints were filed against the player for assaulting a woman more than three months after they signed him from Ajax.
According to reports, the $6 billion club has stated that, like every other signing, they carried out due diligence on the former Ajax star. However, in their investigation, they found nothing about the domestic violence allegations or police complaints against the player filed by his former partner, Gabriela Cavallin.
A few weeks ago, after the player was dropped by the Brazilian national team due to these allegations, Manchester United released a statement. In it, they mentioned that they were waiting for the results of the ongoing investigation by the Greater Manchester Police to take suitable measures against the player.

However, after a few days of this statement, it was announced that the winger and the club had reached a mutual agreement. The Brazilian star would not return to training until further notice and would therefore be extending his leave. Although he is set to receive his full wages regardless of his leave.
The player later opened up about this decision of the club. He said, “I have agreed with Manchester United to take a period of absence while I address the allegations made against me. This was a mutual decision to avoid distraction to my teammates and unnecessary controversy for the club”.
The player is now set to be off the soccer pitch for quite some time. At least until this case is resolved. Gabriela has filed complaints both in England and in Brazil. With the investigation currently ongoing, it is to be seen what comes up as a conclusion to this case in the end. Will Antony be proven guilty? Only time can tell.
Manchester United target Napoli winger as potential Antony replacement
Manchester United has spotted Napoli’s winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia as a potential replacement for the Brazilian winger Antony. The former Ajax man is set to be unavailable for an uncertain period of time. This is due to the ongoing physical assault investigation against him.
Reportedly, the player’s former girlfriend, Gabriela Cavallin, pressed physical assault charges against him. The club hierarchy reached a decision to grant him a leave of absence until further notice. This is so that he can handle the allegations he is charged with.
In the current turn of events, the club is reportedly looking for a new attacker on the right. The club is rumored to be keeping a close watch on Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Reports suggest that the Premier League club has been admirers of the Georgian player. The Red Devils will only be able to land Kvaratskhelia on a loan move.
However, due to the FFP guidelines, Manchester United won’t be spending a huge amount of money in the transfer market. This is why a loan move for the 22-year-old may seem like a viable approach. The Georgian international had a fantastic season year last year with Napoli. He scored 14 goals and provided 17 assists.
Other than Antony, former Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho is also currently training away from Manchester United’s first team. The English winger was previously involved in an altercation with manager Erik ten Hag. This was after getting dropped out by the manager for the team’s Premier League clash against Arsenal.
