Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi had a great time together sharing the spotlight at FC Barcelona. The duo combined for a number of assists and goals during their tenure at the La Liga giants. Both the veterans of the game share a good bond off the pitch as well.
Recently various reports have been linking Luis Suarez to a possible reunion with Lionel Messi at Inter Miami. However, the Uruguayan striker expressed his opinion on the potential transfer to the MLS in one of his recent interviews.
Suarez reportedly stated – “At the moment, What I want is to rest. I talked to my lawyer about a couple of things and hopefully it will happen”. The 36-year-old further asserted – “For now, Leo Messi doesn’t want me to go”. From his statement, it clearly looks like the ex-Barcelona player doesn’t want to rush things.
The veteran forward further opined that he’s not sure of the place where he’s “going to play” as of now. He also pressed on the point of being able to “rest and enjoy” whatever he’s achieved in his career till now. When again asked about his chances of ending up at Inter Miami with Leo, the Uruguayan stated – “It could be a possibility. I have the best player in the world, a great friend there”.
Earlier it was reported that the MLS side Inter Miami was holding advance talks to sign Suarez from his current club Germio. However, nothing has been officially reported regarding a potential deal between both parties. Fans would, however, want to see the ex-Barcelona duo share the pitch again at the highest level.
Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi’s warning to Neymar Jr.
The former Barcelona striker recently disclosed that he along with his former teammate Messi issued a warning to their then-teammate Neymar Jr. in order to not give a nod to his move away to Ligue 1 side PSG. The three players complimented each other quite well during their time together at Barca.
Remembering their stint together, Luis Suarez expressed in an interview – “We (him and Messi) told him (Neymar Jr.) it was a mistake to go to PSG”. “If Ney wanted to be the best, he had to stay by Leo’s side”, the 36-year-old further inflicted.
He also stated that Neymar’s move to PSG “left a void” in the hierarchy of Barcelona. However, later Messi joined Neymar Jr. at the Ligue 1-based club. The duo were able to give their fans a reflection of the old times when they combined again on the pitch.
While Leo moved on to Inter Miami after his PSG exit, Neymar Jr. joined the Al-Hilal in the Saudi Pro League. Suarez however, signed for Barca’s rival Atletico Madrid in La Liga after his exit from the Blaugranes. Soccer fans around the world will always remember the way these three players linked up with each other on the field for Barcelona.
