- Mbappe has officially confirmed his departure from PSG to the higher officials of the club.
La Liga president Javier Tebas has provided a crucial update about the highly-anticipated Kylian Mbappe-Real Madrid saga. Since 2022, Mbappe has been rumored to leave PSG and join Real Madrid. Despite PSG’s best efforts, Mbappe has finally announced that he will leave the club this season. However, there were concerns whether Real Madrid had the necessary finances to seal Mbappe’s move.
Such concerns, however, have been alleviated by La Liga president Javier Tebas. Tebas recently sat down for an interview with the Spanish news outlet Diario AS. In the interview, Tebas talked about how Real Madrid doesn’t need to sell any players to accommodate Mbappe‘s arrival. He said, “Real Madrid is not obliged to sell anyone to pay Kylian, not at all. It is a club in an optimal economic situation.”
Javier Tebas (La Liga President): “Mbappé coming to La Liga? There is a 99% chance that Mbappé will go to Real Madrid. He is one of the best players in the world. From my point of view, Real Madrid will have 2 of the 3 most dominant players in the world: Bellingham and Mbappé.” pic.twitter.com/Ley6WeZ0md

Tebas further provided a huge update about Kylian Mbappe’s future. While it has been confirmed that Mbappe will leave PSG, there are no concrete reports about whether Real Madrid is the only potential destination for the French star. However, Tebas did give an update, although he might have done it unintentionally, about Mbappe’s arrival at Real Madrid.
The La Liga head said that Real Madrid currently has two of the three best players in the world- Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappe, and Manchester City’s Erling Haaland. In addition to this, Tebas also went on to claim that Mbappe’s deal with Real Madrid has been 99% completed. Therefore, it appears that Kylian Mbappe’s deal with Real Madrid is confirmed and the wait for the official announcement won’t be too long.
Javier Tebas is a fan of Real Madrid president despite the Super League
During the interview, Javier Tebas heaped praise on Real Madrid president Florentino Perez. Tebas and Perez have been at odds due to the prospect of the European Super League. Perez is one of the chief proponent of the Super League alongside FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta. However, Tebas has been against the idea of Super League since day one.
Despite their differences, Tebas didn’t abstain from expressing his admiration towards Perez for signing Kylian Mbappe. He said, “I am taking advantage of this interview to send him (Perez) the message that I am delighted that Real is making such recruitments to have a major team.” Tebas further went on to reveal that he hasn’t been on talking terms with the Real Madrid boss for the last three years.
Javier Tebas takes a swipe at Ligue 1
Meanwhile, Javier Tebas also appeared to take a swipe at Ligue 1 amid the potential arrival of Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid. Tebas has claimed that Mbappe’s signing, who is undoubtedly the face of French soccer, will be a huge boost to Spanish soccer. Tebas further praised the brand value while highlighting that the club does have its share of faults.
🗣 – Tebas: “Mbappé to Real Madrid? Every day that passes I increase the percentage of him going to Madrid by 2%. Before I gave him a 50. Now a 55-60. And PSG does not yet have the world brand that Madrid has. They must think not only about the present, but about what that brand…

However, Tebas said that apart from PSG, Ligue 1 lacks brand values. He said, “As for Ligue 1, it needs to work more on its brand.” The 61-year-old admitted that Mbappe’s departure from PSG wouldn’t be good news for the future of French soccer. However, Tebas advised the French FA to shift its focus and base its strategy on medium and long-term goals.
