Soccer legends Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville, now soccer pundits often give their expertise on soccer-related topics and cover all the trending soccer news going around in the world. They both were professional soccer players and arch-rivals back in their time as Jamie played for Liverpool FC and Gary played for Manchester United FC.
However, recently they both were asked about the EAFC TOTY (Team Of The Year) picks for their respective teams, and in a recent interview with SkySports, Jamie said, “In my TOTY, I have chosen Messi.” To which Gary replied, “I have gone for Vinicius Jr. He has 35 goal contributions this year.” Jamie hits back at him saying, “In a joke league, a joke league! What did Real Madrid win?”

This sent shockwaves down the Real Madrid fanbase as Jamie was seen undermining La Liga and their star player Vinicius Jr. However one of the possible reasons Jamie chose to slander the Real Madrid attacker could be, Vinicius Jr. scoring in the UCL final against his former club Liverpool FC.
It remains to be seen what happens next with Real Madrid in the remainder of the 2023-24 season as they have been performing well with the addition of Jude Bellingham to their squad. They sit in the 1st place in La Liga but face immense competition from the league minnows Girona FC for the title.
Jamie Carragher reveals 4 players who could claim the Ballon d’Or in 2024
Four candidates have been identified by veteran Liverpool player Jamie Carragher as the 2024 Ballon d’Or winners. It’s interesting to note that Lionel Messi, the winner in 2023 and the winner of the award for a record-breaking 8th time, is not among them. The Argentine had an incredible year, particularly for his nation, as La Albiceleste won the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, ending their 36-year drought.
Carragher, a 1996–2013 Reds player, believes Jude Bellingham, Harry Kane, Kylian Mbappe, and Erling Haaland have a chance to compete for the prestigious Ballon d’Or in 2024. Regarding Bellingham, he said, “He plays for a club who have got a great opportunity of winning the European Cup (UCL).”

After joining Real Madrid during the summer in a €103 million transfer from Borussia Dortmund, Bellingham, 20, has had an incredible start to life in the Spanish capital. After playing in 23 games across various tournaments, the Englishman has 17 goals and 5 assists.
In addition to Bellingham, another fellow countryman, Harry Kane, has made a quick transition to Bayern Munich. In 22 games across all competitions, the England captain has bulged the net 25 times and assisted 8 times. It remains to be seen who ultimately wins the prestigious Golden Ball in 2024.
