Thomas Muller has showered his new club teammate Harry Kane with praise following Bayern Munich’s qualification for the Champions League quarterfinals. Following the first leg 1-0 defeat, Bayern Munich’s Champions League hopes were hanging by a thread. However, goals from Harry Kane and Thomas Muller sealed Bayern’s victory in the round of 16 against Lazio.
It has been a tough season for Bayern Munich who have been uncharacteristically struggling in the Bundesliga. The German giants are currently placed second in the Bundesliga table with ten points separating them from leaders Bayer Leverkusen. However, while Bayern’s hopes for a record 12th consecutive Bundesliga title might be in peril, they have powered on into the Champions League quarterfinals.

Following the first-leg away defeat against Lazio, Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern Munich comfortably won the return leg 3-0 at the iconic Allianz Arena. Muller said, “We are two footballers who play in the Brazilian style. Always joga bonito.” Moreover, Muller further expressed his admiration for the England skipper who’s currently in the race for the Champions League Golden Boot. Lastly, he encouraged Kane to continue his goal-scoring form and jokingly demanded more goals from the ex-Tottenham Hotspur star.
Thomas Muller recently fumed at Harry Kane over a missed opportunity
While Thomas Muller might have lauded his on-pitch chemistry with Harry Kane, he wasn’t exactly feeling the same a few weeks ago. As already mentioned, Bayern Munich has been struggling this season. The Bavarians lost against the league leaders Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 and also lost the Champions League round of 16 first leg against Lazio.
After two back-to-back defeats, Bayern was desperate to clinch a victory against Bundesliga minnows VFL Bochum. Despite a bright start to the game thanks to a goal from Jamal Musiala, VFL Bochum ended up winning 3-2. While Harry Kane did score Bayern’s second goal, the English star should have added a second. A brilliant pass from Musiala left Kane in a one-on-one position against the VFL Bochum goalkeeper.

However, Kane rather astonishingly scuffed the shot over the bar and squandered the chance. Kane’s miss left Thomas Muller fuming who raised his arms in despair and shouted furiously at his teammate. Had the former Tottenham star passed the ball to Muller, the 2014 World Cup winner would have had an easy tap-in. However, it appears as if Kane and Muller have moved on from the incident and have buried the hatchet.
Harry Kane’s stats so far at Bayern Munich
Despite Bayern Munich‘s struggles, Harry Kane has had a great start to life in Germany. Kane, who left Tottenham Hotspur as the club’s all-time top scorer with 280 goals in 432 appearances, has had no struggles in adapting to a new league. Kane is already the top scorer in the Bundesliga with 27 goals in 24 appearances. He has also scored six goals in eight appearances in the Champions League (via Transfermarkt).
Moreover, Kane is leading the race for the European Golden Boot, having won three Premier League Golden Boot awards previously. Behind Kane, is Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez with 23 goals in the Serie A, PSG’s Kylian Mbappe with 21 goals in Ligue 1, and Manchester City’s Erling Haaland with 18 goals in the Premier League. Lastly, Kane has also provided three assists in the Champions League and five assists in the Bundesliga as well.
