La Liga gives green signal to Lionel Messi signing
Messi left Barcelona in 2021 in a dramatic set of events as FC Barcelona couldn’t afford to renew his contract. This was because of their debt situation and the La Liga financial regulations which forced Messi to exit the Catalan club.
Barcelona offloaded some of their stars like Antoine Griezmann, Jordi Alba, and Sergio Busquets recently. This had a significant effect on their wage bill which has resulted in La Liga giving the green signal to Messi’s transfer, according to Relevo.

The speculation regarding Messi’s return started ever since he was spotted hanging out with former teammates in Barcelona. The only question was whether La Liga would allow Messi to return given the debt situation at the Catalan club.
It now seems like La Liga has given a go-ahead to the club as Laporta and co. have strategized their path to make room for Messi. It will be interesting to see the developments in the next couple of days as Barcelona look to welcome back their greatest ever.
