Manchester United’s Portuguese defender, Diogo Dalot, has been one of the most improved players this season for the Red Devils. The versatile right-back also helped Erik ten Hag’s gameplay by adjusting himself as a left-back when Luke Shaw was injured.
And rightfully claimed by many, Dalot can be considered one of the major contenders to win the club’s Player of the Season title for his immense consistency. In addition to his performances on the pitch for the Red Devils, the Portuguese international is also claimed to be the nicest guy in the squad.
A clip has recently made the internet where a popular soccer content creator and lifelong Manchester United fan named Flex can be seen praising Dalot for his off-the-field attitude. He said, “To give an insight into the type of guy he is, he is really friendly and always wants to come and speak to people. Even when we lose badly, he’ll also come over and give you a fist bump.”
He further added how Dalot can freely talk to fans without the presence of any cameras. The YouTuber recalled an incident from February 2022 during United’s trip to Burnley. Even after failing to win the game, Dalot cared to stop to talk with Flex, although all of his other teammates went inside the team bus. Following the game, the 24-year-old said, “We have to find a way to be more consistent, and then we’re on top.”
Both of them nearly talked for about 15 minutes until Dalot stepped onto the team bus. Carrying this attitude within the team, Dalot is one of the leading candidates to lead the side in years to come.
Diogo Dalot acknowledges Manchester United’s academy for developing young players
Coming from the youth ranks of Manchester United himself, Diogo Dalot has been one of the crucial members of the Red Devils’ first team for a few years now. His commendable defensive and attacking abilities have seen him get picked by Erik ten Hag over Aaron Wan Bissaka. And after seeing multiple players make their first-team appearances coming from the academy of the club, Dalot shares his own perspective.
“This is all about bringing together the young talents coming through the academy. Arriving with the first team and then showing the world that this is the club for bringing players from the youth ranks and becoming superstars,” said the Portuguese defender.
