Former Manchester United player Gary Neville has heaped praises on Cristiano Ronaldo in his recent statement. Neville has shared the pitch with the Portuguese player during their time together at Manchester United. Even after knowing that CR7 has failed to win a World Cup so far, Neville had just one thing to say about him.
Gary Neville said, “Cristiano Ronaldo is still my favorite player in history, and who is the greatest in history”. The veteran further stated that CR7 had a magnificent task ethic. Neville opined the Portuguese worked tremendously hard. Neville expressed that all one can see in his Portuguese fellow “is talent and hard work”.
Neville commented that – “He (Ronaldo) wants to win, he is eager to win”. The former United defender was of the opinion that Cristiano Ronaldo wanted to net goals. He said the player wanted to be the best player in soccer.

The 48-year-old former Red Devils defender played a gigantic 602 matches for the club. Apart from his defensive contributions, he assisted 49 goals for United. The defender also scored seven goals in his Manchester United career. He debuted for the England team in 1995 and played a total of 85 matches. Neville also had some managerial experience later in his career.
He managed the La Liga side Valencia for a stint of 28 matches. He also served as Manchester United’s technical coach for a limited time. Although, his managerial venture didn’t turn out to be very fruitful for him.
Meanwhile, his former teammate CR7, represented the Red Devils in 346 matches. The veteran scored over 140 goals for the Manchester-based side. His time at Old Trafford was significant in United’s rise to being one of the top clubs in Europe’s history.

Gary Neville was of the opinion that CR7 should be polite about the situation when he is not playing and sitting on the bench. This was after Portugal’s number seven was left out of United’s starting eleven against Chelsea in the 2022-2023 season.

He further inflicted that the player feels that he is not being treated adequately at the club. He also didn’t agree with Neville’s statement that United are better without the Portuguese. Roy expressed that despite being 37 years old the number seven “still wants to be the best”.
