European Super League authorities look set to launch the controversial league

While no club has publicly commented about their participation in the league, a new rumor has taken the soccer world by storm. Reportedly, out of the 50 clubs, 20 have already said yes to participate in the league.
ESL authorities believe that 20 is a good enough number to start a league. They have commented, “It’s enough to get started.” Anas Laghrari, co-founder of A22 Sports Management company, the company which is responsible for sponsoring and promoting the Super League has also commented about a small change in the league’s plans. The games, earlier declared as free to watch, now require fans to pay a fee of around $11.
The format of the ESL has been altered after initial backlash from the fans
The free telecast of the games is not the only proposed change that the ESL authorities are planning to propose. The authorities are planning to introduce wide-ranging changes to the revamp the format. soccer fans in 2021 heavily protested against the initial format of the European Super League. The league had proposed a very unfair system, wherein it was stipulated that the 12 founding members could not ever be relegated from the league.
However, the ESL authorities have understood the flaws in the league’s format. They intend to erase the elitist model proposed in the first draft and make the league more inclusive.
The governing body of ESL has increased the number of teams from 20 to a whopping 64 and eradicated the privileges of the founding members. The new competition will run mid-week allowing the domestic clubs to run smoothly. ESL has also proposed the division of the 64 teams into three further leagues, namely star, gold, and blue.
