Erling Haaland is one of the biggest superstars who will not be going to the World Cup. The Norwegian national side has failed to qualify for the competition, despite having players like Haaland and Martin Odegaard. During this time, non-league side Ashton United has submitted a proposal to take Haaland on loan at the club.

Haaland will be on national duty for Norway, playing international friendlies. He is then scheduled to meet up with the City squad not traveling to the World Cup. This meetup will be a warm-weather camp in Dubai. In response to Ashton United’s proposal, Manchester City fans have trolled them on Twitter.
Ashton United confirms Erling Haaland loan approach is not a ‘hoax’
Ashton United have confirmed that their approach for Haaland is not a hoax. Speaking on the loan approach, Ashton United manager, Michael Clegg said, “It makes sense. Manchester City aren’t playing, we want to help by keeping Erling fit. It makes more sense than him playing golf for six weeks. We think he’ll be a great fit, and would slot in our squad dynamic really well.” Ashton United is currently 11th in the Northern Premier League’s Premier Division, the seventh tier of English football.

Erling Haaland has also issued a statement following Norway not going to the World Cup. He is unhappy about not going but wants to be well-rested once club football returns. While City has made no statement regarding Ashton United’s offer, it would be impossible for Haaland to go there for many reasons.
Ashton United gets destroyed by Manchester City fans
Manchester City fans took to Twitter to troll the non-league side for their surprising approach to Haaland. One called it a ‘sad and desperate attempt’ to get exposure by Ashton United.

Some even contemplated what would happen if Haaland joined Ashton United, and got injured.
Imagine they accept. What if he gets injured playing for Ashton? Who pays that?
