According to the Amsterdam District Court judges, the standard sentence for the offense is one year. But in the case of Promes, “The suspect is a professional soccer player and Dutch celebrity, and therefore sets an example to others.” the court stated.
Quincy Promes was sentenced to 18 months in prison as the court adjourned. This wasn’t his only brush with the law, however. He was recently suspended for another, separate offense.
Quincy Promes demanded 9-years unconditional imprisonment for importing 1300+ kilos of cocaine
Reports in the Netherlands allege that Quincy Promes was involved in importing over 1300 kilos of cocaine. Facing a potentially lengthy prison sentence, the former Ajax winger will stand trial for smuggling over 1300 kilos of cocaine, with a street value of £65 million.
Two massive cocaine shipments, one weighing roughly 650 kilograms and the other reaching 713 kilograms, were seized by authorities at the port of Antwerp in late January 2020. Promes has already been suspected of drug trafficking and participating in a criminal organization.

Recently, the Public Prosecution Service has been demanding an increment across the sentence of the Dutch winger. They have demanded that the winger be held 9 years of unconditional imprisonment for the act he has performed.
The Public Prosecution Service claims the suspects, Promes and Marylio V., were not just involved. But acted as crucial leaders, with Promes allegedly taking the reins. Investigations suggest Promes even invested €200,000 in the drug shipment.
Incriminating evidence comes from intercepted encrypted messages on crypto phones linked to Promes and V. These messages, according to authorities, reveal their direct involvement in removing the cocaine from containers. They are accused of overseeing and coordinating the actions of individuals who physically extracted the drugs.
