Cristiano Ronaldo might be forced to pay more money to Kathryn Mayorga for her allegations against the Portuguese superstar for a 2009 incident. A U.S. appeals court is set to hear Mayorga’s lawyer for reopening of the 2009 case.
The attorney for Kathryn Mayorga will present her argument for reopening the case related to the r*pe allegation against Cristiano Ronaldo. The attorney will face the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to overturn the dismissal of the case back in June 2022.
Kathryn Mayorga received around $375,000 in hush money from Cristiano Ronaldo in 2010 regarding the charges. She also signed a confidentiality agreement after accepting the payments. The current appeal argues that the documents should be unsealed and included as evidence against the charges.

The aim of the attorney is to force Cristiano Ronaldo to pay millions more than the initial hush money payments for the 2009 incident. Ronaldo and Mayorga met in Las Vegas back in 2009. Later, Mayorga alleged that the Portuguese soccer player r*ped her in a Las Vegas hotel room.
Ronaldo was 24 then and on holiday with his brother-in-law and cousin in Las Vegas. Mayorga, then 25, worked in a nightclub inside the Palms Casino Resort. Mayorga has claimed that she suffered clinical depression and post-traumatic stress following the incident.
The lawsuit against Cristiano Ronaldo was dismissed in 2022 due to stolen documents
The previous attempt to receive more money from Ronaldo failed when a U.S. court kicked out the case for using “purloined” confidential documents. As per the judge, the use of bad faith conduct and confidential documents tainted the case beyond redemption.
The U.S. District Judge revealed earlier that the case was close to an end when Mayorga’s legal team failed to meet a procedural deadline to bid for more than $25 million in damages. The case was first filed in 2018 in state court but moved to Federal court in 2019 before its dismal in 2022.

Ronaldo’s legal team did not dispute that the duo met back in 2009 in Vegas, they even admit they had s*x after their interaction, however, Portuguese’s legal team claims that the act was consensual. The case was opened in 2019 by the County District Attorney, who decided not to pursue criminal charges.
The newest attempt to reopen the case hangs on the topic of whether the confidentiality agreement will be allowed to be unsealed and included as evidence. The inclusion of the agreement can tilt the case in favor of Mayorga which will help her get more compensation from Ronaldo for the initial charges.
