The soccer world is hit by a piece of very sad news. Hatayspor forward Christian Atsu has been found lifeless under the rubbles of horrific Turkey and Syria earthquakes. The soccer world is mourning the very untimely loss of the 31-year-old Ghana forward.
On February 6, a large part of Turkey and Syria was hit by a deadly earthquake. Two different tremors of respectively 7.8 and 7.5 magnitudes hit the Southern part of Turkey for almost more than a minute. A major part of Syria and the Cyprus Islands were also heavily affected. Rescue teams were sent immediately to move the rubbles and rescue people as fast as possible. The earthquake has reportedly crossed a mammoth 42,000 deaths.
Turkish Super League club Hatayspor is situated in the south of Turkey and the effects were horrible in those parts. Most of the soccer players were reportedly safe, however, their scorer in the last match, Atsu was under the rubble. A couple of days later there were untrue claims about Atsu being found. His agent and wife came out and said that he hasn’t been found.

The club stated that Atsu wanted to leave the city after the match. But stayed to celebrate the win and the winning goal he scored against Kasimpasa last night. Atsu celebrated the win at a teammate’s house and returned around 4 in the morning. And the quake took place only 20 minutes after he came back.
Awful and tragic. RIP Christian
