Fans slammed Swiss star Alisha Lehmann after Switzerland was thrashed in a 5-0 defeat against Spain. Switzerland’s dream of the World Cup stopped due to this horrific defeat as Spain advanced to the quarterfinals.
Switzerland only had 30% of the total possession during the entire game. Spain’s Aitana Bonamati scored the first goal for the La Rojas in the 5th minute of the game. The Swiss team then had a bit of a lucky patch as Spanish player Laia Codina scored an own goal in the 11th minute to level up the scores.
But Alba Redondo helped Spain get back their lead with a goal in the 17th minute. Bonamati’s second goal in the 36th minute expanded their lead further to 3-1. In the 45th minute, Laia Codina rectified her mistake by finding the back of the net for her team before the end of the first half.
In the second half, Spain put Switzerland into more misery as Jennifer Hermoso scored the 5th goal for the team in the 70th minute. This seemed to be the last nail in the coffin of Switzerland’s World Cup dream as they couldn’t bounce back from their position and were thus eliminated from the tournament.
Following this horrific defeat, Swiss supporters were furious with the team’s performance. Many made fun of Alisha Lehmann, who was very confident that they would pick up the win against Spain. Few fans even took it to social media, ridiculing her.
One fan wrote, “Alisha Lehman what a fraud. Got no business playing football.” Another fan wrote, “Alisha Lehman would have to be Barbi.” Also, a third fan wrote, “Alisha Lehman is the best-known soccer player but she doesn’t play a scandalous f***ing minute.”
