SUMMARY
- Darwin Nunez's four near misses on the post didn't impact Liverpool's victory over Chelsea at Anfield.
- Jurgen Klopp believed Dawin was unfortunate in the Chelsea game, missing his first-ever penalty.
Darwin Nunez made history by becoming the first player to hit the post on four occasions in a Premier League match, but Liverpool’s crushing of Chelsea at Anfield was unaffected by his string of near misses. On January 31st night, the Reds won 4-1 by goals from Luis Diaz, Dominik Szoboszlai, Conor Bradley, and Diogo Jota.
Christopher Nkunku scored his second goal in English soccer at the other end, but Chelsea never appeared to have a chance to prevent Liverpool from winning their 15th Premier League game of the year. Liverpool have been performing extremely well this 2023-24 season as of yet.

However, Jurgen Klopp felt Dawin was unlucky in the match against Chelsea after missing the 1st penalty of his career. He said, “It’s crazy that he creates so many. We scored four goals, so who cares about the ones he didn’t score? He will score goals, it will come. He is in outstanding shape, still a bit unlucky, so it’s all fine.”
It remains to be seen whether Darwin puts his abrupt performance against Chelsea a the back of his head and continues to move on ahead. He has a lot of support from the Liverpool fans and will be raring to prove his worth to them in the upcoming matches.
Darwin Nunez misses the first penalty of his career and sets a new record
Darwin Nunez smashes a bad record in the EPL, but he won’t be happy about it. The Liverpool forward was crucial to his team’s convincing 4-1 victory over Chelsea at home, which helped the Reds reclaim a five-point lead in the rankings. Nunez, sadly, did not receive a point and finished the game with a poor record.

Darwin Nunez hit the woodwork four times in the match, setting a record for the number of hits a player endured since the 2003–04 Premier League season. One of these was a spot-kick that Nunez missed in the first half and surprisingly also his first penalty miss of his soccer career. and on the other hand, Chelsea was trailing 2-0 and seemed to be losing ground.
Darwin Nunez’s total penalties scored
The Liverpool striker, Darwin Nunez is one of the coolest players in front of the goalpost when it comes to spot-kicks. Out of 13 penalties that Dawrin has taken in his career he has scored 12 of them and missed only 1 penalty in his entire soccer career.
Before today, Darwin Nunez had scored 12/12 penalties in his career. Those saying he shouldn’t have taken it, doesn’t really make sense given his record. Hindsight is crazy.

The 1 penalty miss came recently in his previous match, on January 31st against Chelsea FC in the English Premier League. He is a very talented player and is still very young, He has a very huge ceiling above him and can develop into a sensational striker shortly if he continues to work hard.
