ESPN’s Marc Raimondi first reported on Twitter that former light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones was arrested after being charged with battery domestic violence and injuring and tampering with a vehicle. He was arrested by the Las Vegas Metro PD, with more details yet to come out.

There’s no clarity on exactly what went down. Be that as it may, it won’t be the first time that we have seen Jones under handcuffs. Widely regarded as one of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time, Jon Jones has always had issues outside of his fight life. Jones has often found himself in trouble with the law and has served probation.

Just last year, Jones was arrested after he was caught DWI. We certainly hope this is the last of many mishaps that Jon Jones does outside of the cage. It won’t be wrong to say that it is partly due to these incidents that Jon Jones hasn’t been able to find the respect that he completely deserves as an elite mixed martial artist. Additionally, the failed drug tests have also tainted his legacy as arguably the greatest mixed martial artist of all time.
Jon Jones was present at the UFC Hall of Fame induction ceremony
What’s more surprising about Jon Jones getting arrested is the fact that he was greeting fans less than 24 hours ago at the UFC Hall of Fame ceremony. The former light-heavyweight champion was present alongside the likes of Georges St-Pierre, Royce Gracie, among others at the prestigious UFC Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Jones addressed the media for the first time after quite some time, revealing the plans for his heavyweight return.
Jon Jones: I have always just focused on winning. I think when I come back as a heavyweight I’ll try to do more legally controversial shit so that I can maybe sell a little more PPV.

However, fans have picked out something particular he said about selling a fight that has garnered the interest of many. Jones opined how he will get a cut from the PPV with the new contract that he signs ahead of his heavyweight debut. He mentioned how he would like to do more controversial stuff to stay in the media, and lauded Conor McGregor for his antics. Less than 24 hours later, Jon Jones is arrested. Personally, I am not that surprised.
