SUMMARY
- ONE 165 saw Superlek Kiatmoo9 taking on Takeru Segawa in the main event.
- The fight came about after Rodtang Jitmuangnon pulled out with a hand injury.
Superlek Kiatmoo9 is still the ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Champion after a thrilling five-round battle with Japanese superstar Takeru Segawa. “The Kicking Machine” did more damage throughout the ONE 165 main event at the Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan, on January 28, and it was Takeru’s lead leg that bore the brunt of it.
Superlek lived up to his nickname, landing a seemingly endless series of kicks to his foe’s leg, which set the tone for the contest. An explosive third-round flurry proved Takeru’s big moment of the fight, when he landed a barrage of lightning-fast punches to leave the reigning champion wobbled at the end of the frame.
AND STILL 👑 Superlek retains the ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Title in a thriller against Takeru!

But Superlek regained his composure and controlled the proceedings from then on, taking the unanimous decision win and a $50,000 performance bonus. In the co-main event, Kade Ruotolo registered another successful defense of his ONE Lightweight Submission Grappling World Title.
The American phenom’s athleticism was on show against heated rival Tommy Langaker, as he exploded from position to position en route to a clear-cut unanimous decision victory. A D’Arce choke attempt near the halfway mark of the contest earned the 21-year-old a decisive catch, helping him to clinch the win. He also took home a $50,000 performance bonus for the impressive showing, courtesy of ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong.
