CM Punk was previously a part of WWE from 2005 to 2014. He then went on to become a part of WWE’s rival promotion, AEW. His run in the Tony Khan-led promotion lasted from 2021 to 2023. Punk was recently terminated from the promotion due to a backstage altercation. Following his termination, several speculations have been going on regarding his possible return to WWE.
CM Punk has a massive fanbase who are extremely excited about his return to the Stamford-based promotion. Not only that, the fans of Punk have even speculated on a possible date for his return to the company. According to speculations, the fan-favorite Superstar might make his return at Survivor Series 2023. This is because the PPV event is all set to take place in Punk’s hometown, Chicago.

With that, rumors of Punk returning to the Survivor Series in Chicago have been making the rounds. Meanwhile, a 6-time WWE Champion has now addressed those rumors. It is none other than Booker T. The WWE Hall of Famer recently spoke on the ‘Hall of Fame podcast’. During that, he said that it was hard for him to believe that Punk would make his WWE return at the Survivor Series.
Booker T then went on to question “What does CM Punk add to WWE right now at this point?”, when the company has been going great lately. He then claimed, “Now, let’s look at it from this perspective…CM Punk didn’t just leave WWE; he got fired from WWE. He didn’t just leave AEW; he got fired with cause from AEW. What value does a person like that bring to your company?”

Thus, it seems the door for CM Punk in NXT is open. However, two WWE higher-ups gave distinct opinions on the former Superstar returning to the company. With that, it remains to be seen if WWE will respect Shawn Michaels’ decision or keep the question raised by Booker T in mind. However, only time will tell what lies ahead for Punk in the upcoming days.
