A couple of days ago, the trailer of Zendaya‘s upcoming movie, Challengers got released. Coincidentally, at the same time, an interview of five-time Wimbledon champion, Venus Williams also made its way into the trending news.
The Luca Guadagnino movie is staged around the life of a tennis star. The Euphoria actress received a lot of praise for her acting skills in the trailer. Moreover, tennis fans also got stuck on her forehand, which looked decent.
Venus Williams on tennis movies:
“You can see they just can’t play, but those girls worked hard. I watched the movie, Wimbledon. The girl takes 2 days off to fall in love, I’m thinking, ‘I didn’t take a day off at Wimbledon.’ I don’t want to fall in love, 6-love works for me” 😂 pic.twitter.com/4XSmH9ovjL

Therefore, as the old interview of Venus Williams talking about a tennis movie went viral, fans initially thought that she had considered Zendaya’s new project. However, she was talking about the romantic comedy Wimbledon, which starred Kristen Dunst and Paul Bettany.
In that interview, Venus Williams stated that the girls have worked hard for the movie. However, what they eventually do by taking a couple of days off for falling in love isn’t practically possible. She also said that a bagel is better for her than falling in love.
“You see the tennis movies are made, you can see they just can’t play, but those girls worked hard. I watched that movie, Wimbledon or something, the girl takes two days off to go fall in love, I’m thinking, ‘I didn’t take a day off at Wimbledon.’ I don’t want to fall in love, 6-0 works for me,” Venus Williams said.
As Wimbledon is almost around the corner, tennis fans are on the verge of their seats to find out who will be crowned champion at the All England Lawn Tennis Club.
Venus Williams looks in great form ahead of Wimbledon
Participating in her first event since January, Venus Williams played a couple of three-set classics at the 2023 Birmingham Classic. In her first match, she took down Camila Giorgi in the first round and got her first top-50 win in the last four years.
However, in the second round, she lost to Latvia’s Jelena Ostapenko but she did manage to force the match into a decider. Thus, it’s fair to say that Venus Williams can still pull a few upsets at the grand stage of the grass-court Major next month.

The 43-year-old made her last appearance at the All England Lawn Tennis Club in 2021, where she was eliminated by Ons Jabeur in the second round. Thus, for this season’s Wimbledon, she has received a wildcard. Thus, it will be interesting to witness how she fares in this year’s grass-court Major.
