Erin Blanchfield and Taila Santos are set to face off this Saturday as part of the UFC Fight Night: Holloway vs. The Korean Zombie main card in Singapore. Blanchfield, who started as an Eddie Bravo invitational champion, has since become a prominent name in the world of MMA.
Her submission wins against JJ Aldrich and Molly McCann last year brought her into the conversations of major UFC pundits. The women’s flyweight contender has scored a stellar five victories since her UFC debut two years ago.
Blanchfield became an overnight superstar when she defeated former UFC champion Jessica Andrade in what seemed like an easy win, back in February. Her phenomenal rise was even applauded by UFC’s big boss Dana White. Dana commended Blanchfield for defeating Andrade and not getting overwhelmed by the pressure of the big event.

Many call her the next Ronda Rousey. Some go even further in saying that she is everything that Rousey wanted to be. Let’s hope she has as illustrious a career, if not more, as the 7-time UFC champion and 5-time WWE champion fighter.
All eyes on Blanchfield vs. Santos at UFC Singapore
For Blanchfield and her opponent Taila Santos, their fight at UFC Singapore has title implications. Whoever wins this fight could have the chance to face either Valentina Shevchenko or reigning champion Alexa Grasso.
Both Blanchfield and Santos are looking to go after the title. The only hurdle in the way is the fight on Saturday, August 26, 2023. Talking about a shot at the title, Blanchfield said, “I am going to give this my best. This is going to be a tough fight as Taila is a well-rounded fighter and we saw how Saw took on Valentina.”
The 23-year-old currently sits at rank 3 behind Grasso, Shevchenko, and her upcoming challenger Santos. Fans already love Blanchfield after her brief run at the flyweight division.
Santos on her end, is hoping for some vengeance and redemption after a debatable split decision defeat to Shevchenko, also in Singapore in UFC 275 in June last year. She is looking forward to leaving with a better memory of the Lion City state.
