Jaylen Brown, a star for the Boston Celtics, has agreed to a five-year, $304 million supermax agreement. The deal would be the most expensive contract in NBA history. The agreement, which would keep the 26-year-old with the organization through the end of the 2028–2029 season, was finalized last Sunday, according to Brown’s agent, Jason Glushon.

Many people have discussed the historic $304 million supermax contract extension signed by star Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown. Speculations were made on whether it was wise for the team to have made the offer to him or not. Basketball great Tracy McGrady appeared on a recent edition of “The Herd With Colin Cowherd”. McGrady discussed many things about the NBA, which of course led to Brown’s supermax extension.
While revealing his thoughts on the matter, T-Mac said, “I mean that’s the state of the NBA you can’t hate on it that’s just where we are. He’s well deserved of getting that contract based off of how he played over these last few years, how he played last year.” The basketball icon did not seem surprised by the historic deal as according to him, this was how it was going to be from now on.
Jaylen Brown has the biggest contract in NBA history
Despite the fact that Brown is not generally regarded as a Top 10 player in the league, the Celtics have made the playoffs each season since. In fact, most analysts do not even believe that Brown is the best player in the Celtics. They believe that Jayson Tatum, a four-time All-Star who was selected to the NBA’s first team this season, is the Celtics’ finest player. Next year, Tatum will qualify for a supermax extension.
The Nuggets center Nikola Jokic’s $264 million contract from last summer has been surpassed by Brown’s five-year supermax contract extension. The contract will pay him up to $304 million over the course of the deal.
Last season, he averaged 26.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 3.5 assists, all career highs. However, once the Celtics were defeated by the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference finals, those figures dropped. Brown scored 19 points in Game 7 on 8 of 23 shooting, converting only one of nine 3-point tries.
Nevertheless, during the course of his tenure in Boston, he has become an integral part of the team’s current core. The management was unwilling to take a chance on losing him when his current contract expires after next season.
