After having been swept in the Western Conference Finals, the Los Angeles Lakers are targeting a Denver Nuggets star who played a pivotal role in the franchise’s championship run last season. As some fans might be aware, the Lakers fell out of contention after being eliminated by the Denver Nuggets.
Los Angeles had gotten off to a slow start last season. They made several changes to the roster and included other key players such as D’Angelo Russell and Rui Hachimura. After the trade deadline, they were considered by many NBA analysts to be the best team in the Western Conference.
The Nuggets certainly managed to disprove those notions by preventing the Lakers from winning a single game in their matchup. Now, Los Angeles looks to bring on one of the Nuggets’ stars to their roster in order to improve their chances next season. Let us take a closer look and find out more.
The Los Angeles Lakers are interested in recruiting Bruce Brown
Although Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray were given the lion’s share of credit for the Nuggets’ success, the fact remains that several other key players stepped up for the franchise and made big plays during pivotal stretches of games. Bruce Brown is one of those players as he elevated his play past expectations this postseason
.
Not only is Brown talented on the offensive end of the floor, he has made a name for himself as one of the best guard defenders. That was something the Lakers clearly didn’t have last season. According to recent reports, the Lakers are targeting Bruce and are quite confident they can sign him.
To make matters more interesting, the Los Angeles Lakers are also confident in their ability to retain other key players such as D’Angelo Russell and Austin Reaves. While some fans might think this is unlikely, we should remember that Bruce is on a 2-year contract worth around $13 million.

Since that is quite a small amount when compared to how much other stars across the league make, it is fully possible for the Lakers to afford his services. Brown has also won a championship during his first year in Denver and might feel the desire to move on. If that is the case, the Lakers are confident in their ability to recruit him. We look forward to seeing if they are actually able to do so in the near future.
