Despite being eliminated from contention in the ongoing NBA Finals, Kyrie Irving and LeBron James have garnered a significant amount of media attention. As some fans might already be aware, both NBA stars have hinted at a potential reunion after having parted ways back in 2017.
Considering that they won what is considered to be one of the greatest NBA championships ever in 2016, Los Angeles Lakers fans have eagerly been awaiting news that Irving would join their historic franchise. After all, paring him with LeBron and AD might just be a championship recipe.
However, the latest news that has come in seems to be suggesting a different outcome. Let us take a closer look and find out more.
Will LeBron James join Kyrie Irving and the Dallas Mavericks?
Although this might seem absurd, the report that has come in from NBA Insider Shams Charania indicates that Irving has been recruiting LeBron to join the Mavericks. This would be devastating news for the Lakers fanbase since losing King James would most likely take them out of contention for winning an NBA championship. Anthony Davis certainly hasn’t proven to be capable of leading a team singlehandedly.

Since the Lakers made it to the Western Conference Finals and the Mavericks were unable to even make the play-in tournament, asking LeBron to go there might be going a bit too far. However, we should still think about this potential outcome. Especially since King James has shared that he wants to play only if it means competing for an NBA championship.

If LeBron truly just wants to win and doesn’t mind taking a backseat, he should certainly consider joining the Mavericks. After all, having Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving as teammates would all but ensure that this ideal team becomes an instant championship contender.
NBA critics could argue that James would have a better chance to win alongside Doncic and Irving as opposed to with Anthony Davis and the other Lakers. We also know that LeBron has incredible respect for Luka as well as Kyrie and would be able to adapt to their playstyles.

Although nothing is confirmed at the moment, it is still possible for either LeBron or Kyrie to shift teams in the near future. Hopefully, they will get to play together once more before King James‘ career comes to an inevitable end.
