Over a year ago, Miles Bridges was accused of domestic violence by an ex-partner. Unfortunately, this has been the reason why we haven’t seen him perform on the court for a while. The forward is a young rising star in the league with great potential. Bridges was headed to become the leader of the Charlotte Hornets roster until these accusations surfaced the world. He missed out on last season, he may potentially miss out on another.
The Hornets player was accused of physically abusing his ex-girlfriend, Mychelle Johnson. She claimed that he assaulted her in front of their two children as well. Bridges was taken to court and issued a domestic violence protective order against him. This court order required him to stay at least 100 yards away from Johnson for ten years. He was also asked to complete 100 hours of community service and 52 weeks of domestic violence counseling as well as parenting classes.

The order also had Miles Bridges tested for narcotics including marijuana every week. He is not allowed to carry weapons or ammunition of any sort. Rather than going to jail for a significant period, Miles pled no contest to the charges. This means he accepted the conviction without formally pleading guilty. This allowed him to go on probation for three years, given that he completed the stipulations given by the court.
Miles Bridges was released over a thousand dollar bail
Unfortunately, Miles Bridges found himself in trouble once again earlier this week. He was issued an arrest warrant and a criminal summons for violating the domestic violence protective order. Sources claimed that a new confrontation took place outside his residence during a custody exchange. Mychelle and the children were in a car when Bridges allegedly threw billiard balls at them. The issued criminal summons also stated that he threatened to take everything she had and withhold child support.

Things seemed to be a bit worse as the NBA star’s current girlfriend also tried to attack Mychelle. She charged at the vehicle under the acknowledgment of Bridges. The car had a broken windshield and multiple dents according to sources. Bridges was charged with violating court order, misdemeanor child abuse, and damage to personal property. He is scheduled to make an appearance in court on October 13, 2023.
Miles Bridges ended up turning himself in after violating the order. He arrived at a Lincoln County precinct along with his attorney. The Hornets forward was released on a $1,000 bail. The warrant was initially issued in January but it did not come into effect until now. While the NBA gathers information regarding the incident, Bridges is serving a 10-game suspenion.
