Macey Estrella, popularly known by her ring name Lacey Evans, is a 33-year-old female performer who has been associated with the WWE since 2016. But, it seems that the former NXT star’s days in the Stamford-based promotion have ended, as recent rumors have revealed her departure from the company.
Reports about Lacey Evans‘ WWE departure initially started surfacing after the female star shared a cryptic message on her Instagram. Her post indicates that she has probably left Triple H’s company. She wrote, “When the clock strikes 12, you will address me as Macey Estrella from here on out.”
While no official confirmation about her exit has been made by the Triple-H-led promotion, Vince Russo has shared the potential reason behind this departure. As per the veteran, Evans leaving the promotion can be WWE’s way of punishing her for taking time off when she got pregnant in real life.
It must be noted that Lacey’s last televised match in the Stamford-based promotion was against Charlotte Flair. This match took place on the June 23, 2023, episode of SmackDown, in which she suffered a loss at the hands of “The Queen.”
Now that the WWE star has confirmed her exit from the Triple-H-led promotion, it seems she’ll probably find opportunities on the Independent circuit. Also, don’t be surprised if we see her making a shift to her former company’s biggest rival, AEW.
WWE was forced to change Lacey Evens’ gimmick every week
Lacey may have left WWE, but this departure can be a blessing in disguise for her, as her career never really took off in the Stamford-based promotion. Despite being with the company for over six years, The Lady of NXT never really reached the top of the women’s division, and the major reason behind it was the frequent change in her gimmick.
From being the Sassy Southern Belle in the early years of her stint to being presented as a Sgt. Slaughter-inspired marine, Lacey did it all in her career. But nothing really worked for the 33-year-old, as even after so many gimmick changes, she wasn’t able to connect with the fans.
Looking at how Evans seemingly announced her departure from Triple H’s company, it seems that she’s ready for a new journey in her pro wrestling career. It remains to be seen when the Stamford-based promotion will make an official confirmation about the Classy Lady’s departure. It’ll also be interesting to see which path the former WWE star will follow now.
