This weekend at UFC Fight Night in Sao Paulo, Brazil, rising heavyweight contender Jailton Almeida is set to step into the Octagon for a showdown with former title challenger Derrick Lewis in the main event. Almeida, who holds a record of 19 wins and 2 losses, has an impressive undefeated streak of five wins in the UFC, with each of those victories resulting in a finish, including three knockouts and two submissions.
On the other side of the Octagon, Derrick Lewis, with a record of 27 wins and 11 losses, is riding high after a first-round knockout victory over Marcos Rogerio de Lima in July. This win marked a return to form for Lewis, who had previously experienced a three-fight losing streak.
Recently, a statistic has been making the rounds on the internet that makes Jailton even more formidable as an opponent. According to a post on Combat Talk, in his initial five UFC bouts, Almeida only endured a total of two significant strikes.

While this sounds like an amazing record and only shows Almeida’s extra-ordinary power and finishing skills, fans are afraid for him for his fight against ‘The Black Beast’. A fan wrote on Instagram, “Chin hasn’t been tested? Oh Lord, he’s getting sparked”. So, apparently, not being tested at the highest level may prove to be dangerous for the Brazilian fighter.
Another fan wrote, “Derrick Lewis will give him the third strike in six UFC fights, but a strike of death”. A fan felt that this heavyweight battle would probably see a very quick finish, as they wrote, “This is a round 1 fight, beast KO or Jalton submission.”
Nevertheless, one must accept the fact that this is still a pretty decent record by Jailton Almeida.
Jailton Almeida has a 100 percent finish rate in the UFC
‘Malhadinho’ has yet to reach a decision victory in his undefeated UFC journey. In his most recent fight, he solidified his status as a credible contender through a first-round submission victory over Jairzinho Rozenstruik. Additionally, in his debut on the UFC main roster, Almeida secured a first-round TKO victory over Danilo Marques during UFC Fight Night: Hermansson vs. Strickland in February 2022.
This triumph against Marques marked Almeida’s inaugural victory on the main UFC roster. Subsequently, he went on to defeat Parker Porter, Anton Turkalj, Shamil Abdurakhimov, and then of course Jairzinho Rozenstruik. Currently, Jailton Almeida is slated to take on Derrick Lewis in an eagerly anticipated heavyweight clash, serving as the headline bout for the UFC Sao Paulo event scheduled for November 4, 2023.
